Parchments, on the other hand, are made in the traditional way, so that they are considered kosher and can be mounted on doorposts everywhere. For a parchment to be kosher, it needs to be hand made by a sofer stam, who uses a very gentle knife to engrave the scriptures onto a leather scroll - the klaf. We created this category so you could readily choose your favorite kosher parchment to go along with any mezuzah, whether new or old.
